Our vision is that in a collision no one should be harmed because of a Subaru – neither inside nor outside it. Our aim is to protect not only those travelling in a Subaru, but also other road users such as cyclists, pedestrians and wildlife. We call these improvements Subaru All-Round Safety.

Always All-Wheel Drive

Subaru all-wheel drive means safety first and foremost. A car with all-wheel drive is more stable, more predictable and easier to handle. The Forester boasts high towing figures and a special stabilisation system for safe towing.

The world's best driver assistance system

EyeSight is like an extra pair of eyes watching the road. It consists of two video cameras that capture the view in front of the car. EyeSight is the result of 30 years of development work. Cars with EyeSight are involved in less than half as many accidents, and the risk of rear-end collisions is reduced by 84 per cent.

SI-Drive

The Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) system adapts the engine's behaviour in almost any situation to give you the power and manoeuvrability you need. Sport mode offers extra responsiveness, and its instant pick-up can come in handy in all kinds of conditions. Intelligent mode delivers power progressively, making it ideal for driving on city streets or covering long distances. It also helps you save fuel.

X-Mode

One mode for driving on hard road surfaces and another for snowy or muddy roads. This optimises the all-wheel-drive system and ensures maximum traction. The system also includes Hill Descent Control, which makes driving down steep slopes safer. You only have to steer, as the system adapts braking and engine operation to the conditions.

The essence of Subaru technology

A Subaru always drives with all four wheels. Thanks to our unique Active Torque Split system, just one wheel needs grip for you to keep going. The fact that the car does not switch from front-wheel drive to all-wheel drive makes a significant difference to the driving experience. All-wheel drive also provides a greater safety margin in difficult driving conditions. The driver benefits from predictable and consistent vehicle behaviour.

Electrically assisted boxer engine

With the introduction of e-BOXER, we have further improved the existing benefits and developed the features that our drivers value most.

Full inner frame construction
